who we are
The Ottawa Abortion Doula Collective is a group of pro-choice, feminist volunteers who support people in Ottawa and the surrounding area through their abortions. Our services are non-judgemental, compassionate, and free.
We do this work because the stigma around abortion is real (and it sucks) — and many people aren’t comfortable asking family or friends for a ride or for their help throughout the abortion process. But you deserve support, and we want to make sure you get it.
Our abortion doulas have been trained in trauma-informed abortion support by the experienced abortion doula and founder of Abortion Support Services Atlantic, Shannon Hardy.
We can help you sort out the logistical and emotional considerations of getting an abortion in Ottawa and the surrounding area.
We acknowledge that the lands where we live and work are the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin nation.
what we do
We provide support for people in Ottawa and the surrounding area before, during, and after a surgical or medical abortion. We can share information, tell you what to expect, and connect you with more resources. We can accompany you to your appointments, hold your hand while you wait, and support you to advocate for your choices. We can give you a ride home and listen to whatever you want to share about your experience. We take our lead from you. So if you want to drive in silence, that’s great. If you want to distract yourself with conversation, that works, too. If you want to share the details and go for a walk, we can do that with you.

We recognize that not only cis women seek abortions. Our services are inclusive of all people, including LGBTQI2S+ folks.

We’ll do whatever we can to make you feel supported, but every abortion doula will have their own comfort level. Together, we’ll make a plan to help you get the support you need.
